Oh Dear God...

I know I'm going to regret this the second I hit "Publish". Heck, I'm regretting it now! {Sigh.} But once again, I have been forced by my "best friends", Ami & Nicole to do NaBloPoMo.

Yes, people, I'm going to try to do a blog post a day this month. {double sigh}.

It won't be a bad month actually, I have Halloween, Reese's first birthday, and Thanksgiving to write about so here goes.

But, as luck would have it, I left my laptop at school. I have no pictures on Brian's computer and even if I did, I've wouldn't know how to upload them. Weird how I've only had a Mac for a year, but I have forgotten how to use Windows and have no interest in spending time trying to relearn.

So, this will be my lame first post for NaBloPoMo. Wish me luck!

Thank Goodness!

I have never been so happy to see the end of a month get here until today! May 31st means

THE LAST DAY OF NABLOPOMO!!

Whew... I did it... again.

Before I leave you for awhile, I just want to give you the update on Brian's tournament. I know that you have been waiting ALL weekend to find out if he won or not. So without further ado.... Chamisa Hills Country Club has a new Member-Guest team winner.

And the winners are Brian & Robbie! Yay them! Not to toot my own horn (well, I didn't do anything) but they won by quite a bit. 4 shots to be exact and they had to give one or two shots because they played so well. Brian is pretty excited. I'm sure we'll be back next year. Michelle and I decided that next year we will plan ahead and have our guys wear matching outfits each day of the tournament. How cute huh? Yeah. The guys are thrilled.

Thank you for sticking with me this month. I hope that I was able to make you chuckle a few times with tales from my little boy.

Just because this is the last day doesn't mean you shouldn't check in. I have some ideas planned for the next few blogs. We may have a blog tomorrow we may not. Check in to find out! :)

I Swear I Didn't Forget!

Yesterday afternoon I was all set to upload the 100s of birthday pictures I took, when I log onto Blogger and find this!

Yes, Unavailable! Since Wednesday evening until just a little awhile ago (Friday afternoon). NaBloPoMo Police, please don't come after me. It was out of my control.

MAYbe

In all of my excitement to tell you about my Ricky experience, I forgot to share May's NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) badge and theme.

The theme is Maybe... which honestly, I'm not sure how I am supposed to incorporate that each day, but whatever. I MAY not BE that smart I guess. So I shall take Ami & Jen's idea and make my own MAYBE list. Would love to hear yours too...

Maybe Jaxon won't require a treat everytime he goes pee or poop in the potty

Maybe I'll find my camera charger, Kindle charger and Jaxon's t-shirts

Maybe I'll get around to hanging up the rest of our decor

Maybe we'll buy new bedroom furniture for our room and have a guest room

Maybe our pool will be ready to use in the next few weeks

Maybe I'll find out if Jaxon will get into the preschool program I want

Maybe a developer will decide to build a grocery store with a Starbucks out here in the middle of nowhere. (this one is wishful thinking, but hey, a girl can dream can't she?)

Maybe I'll get a tan

Maybe we'll decide on a date to go to San Diego

So many Maybes!

I do know one thing... Jaxon will be THREE in less than a week and we are going to have a DINOSAUR party!

Here We Go Again!!

So Ami has done it again... she has peer pressured me to do 31 (did you know May had 31 days Ami??) blogs a 31 days. But, she and I are not alone. Our friend Jen will also be joining us for the ride. ( I believe it may have been her idea.) My first response to Ami was, "I don't really have time to blog every day." Then I thought for a second and said, "Who am I kiddin?!? I don't even have a job!" Well actually I do, but it takes me all of one hour a day. More on that on a slow blog day.

So let's begin May with a Bang! Or Livin' La Vida Loca. Oh yes, Friends, Brian & I went to see my FAVORITE singer... Ricky Martin!!! Say what you will about him, but I love him. I've loved him since I was 6 and I will love him until I am 106. He is beautiful and has a beautiful voice. Love him!

Before I tell you about our concert, let's go down memory lane.

A few years ago, 6 years to be exact, the local radio station announced that Ricky would be coming to town and they were inviting listeners to come meet him. Well, you know who jumped on that bandwagon! I emailed the DJs, cute picture of me attached and everything, and crossed my fingers. Well, the next day they called me! In my classroom! Not exactly sure what they said, but I remember walking into Ami's classroom, which conviniently happened to be 1 step from mine and telling (shieking probably) her Johnjay and Rich were calling about my letter. I also remember we had to sing a little of Livin' La Vida Loca. On the radio. With EVERYONE listening. I don't even know how many phone calls Brian & I got wondering if it was me on the radio.

So the next day, my mom & I went to the radio station to meet the love of my life. Yes, I feel that strongly. :) Oh and did I mention it was my 27th birthday??? Best. Birthday. EVER!

So what do I do when I get close to Ricky? I start crying. Hysterically. Like those girls on the Ed Sullivan Show when The Beatles were on. Yeah. Well, my blubbering helped because he gave me extra kisses and called me linda (pretty in Spanish), at this point, we had told him that we were also from Puerto Rico and had been fans since Menudo and he signed my Coqui (Puerto Rican symbol). I was in heaven! I even was in the newspaper!

So fast forward 6 years several concerts later and he was back in Albuquerque! I bought us tickets back in January and then had to book flights for Brian & me once we found out we were moving. There was no way I was missing a chance to see Ricky, even if I have seen him 4 other times.

Before the show we met up with some of our friends at the hotel bar where he was performing.

Michelle, Me & Jana

When Brian & I drove up to the venue, we saw his tour buses and the band was rehearsing. I stopped to watch for a bit, hoping to get a glimpse of Ricky, but some security lady shooed me away. I mean what harm could I do just watching? I also saw his dancers in the lobby and was this close to stopping them, but what would I say, "Can you get me backstage? I LOVE him!" Weirdo.

The view from the 9th floor. Notice the tour buses?

Lynn, being, well, Lynn.
Flying my colors at the concert!
Can I tell how many people asked me where I got my flag, or if they were selling flags? Uh, I got it in PR. it's authentic. People were bummed. Waiting for the concert.

See the girl behind us? At some point during the show she starts SCREAMING at her boyfriend, "What the F is wrong with you?!?! What the F is wrong with you?!?! You promised me!!!" She was in his face YELLING. I kept looking back and poor thing was crying the rest of the show.

Let the show begin! He played for 1 1/2 hours straight. There was no talking, no lag time. It was song after song after song. Oh and the dancing. And oh how I danced! And yelled. And sang. I had a blast! Brian had a blast too. Even he said it was the best concert he had ever been too. I have never seen a crowd like this at an Albuquerque concert. We went to our fair share of concerts while we lived there and the audience, frankly, were duds. They sit the whole time and don't even fill the arena. Well, this time was different. The crowd was electric and the venue was packed! They still sat for a fair amount, but danced too. Which the sitting was good for me, because I stood the whole time and got a perfect view.

One for my many favorite things about Ricky, is how much he loves his little island. Every show I've ever been to, he always pays homage to Puerto Rico. This time was no different. He had a slide show of beautiful pictures from the island and invited everyone to visit one day. And throughout the show he would give a shout out to PR.

Dancing my ass off! I haven't danced like this is years!

Christmas Shopping

One of my favorite parts of Christmas was getting the HUGE Sears or JC Penny's catalog in the mail and just pouring over the toy section. I used to love looking at all of the toys and just dreaming of what I could have. I still am that way. Ami gave me her Premier Jewelry catalog and I have spent hours looking at everything, planning which tops I can wear with each necklace or what type of top I'll have to buy when I get a the new necklace!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree because my son seems to be the same way! We got a Constructive Playthings catalog and it was on our ottoman when Jaxon snatched it up and found the toy of his dreams!

It is a Dinosaur Park.

This is the description: "Journey back in time with our 3-dimensional, wooden environment inhabited by 12 vinyl dinosaurs. The assembled structure stands at 23" L x 14" W. x 13" H. with inviting nooks and crannies on all sides and levels. A card stock mat completes the scene. "

Sounds perfect for a future palentologist.
He looks like such a big boy here. sniff sniff

Once he saw it he says, "I want dis. I get dis for Christmas." He has taken it to the potty with him, in the car, while eating dinner, and even to bed. I guess I better give Santa a call about this one!

Rules Shouldn't be Broken

I've said before that my rule in public is to always keep Jaxon either in his stroller or in the shopping cart. I don't think I have ever let him walk around a store, and now I know why!
After we voted last week, I had to get a couple of things at the grocery store. I had worked all day, my back hurt, I was tired so I thought, "I don't want to lift Jaxon into a cart, I'll just let him walk. We'll be in and out." Oh dear, never again!
He had a blast, but it wasn't in and out and it was more exhausting chasing after him. Plus the evil looks I got from people were not so nice. I'm sticking with the rules from now on!
Helping Mama

Not so much helping

Jaxon did not wet his pants. On the way to the store he felt it necessary to pour his water all over his lap.

I'm getting there! 10 down 20 to go!

Graduation Day

Jaxon has moved up another level in Gymboree! He is now in Level 6 and this move has gone considerably better than the move from 4 to 5.
It's a Gymboree Day!
This certifies that Jaxon Pearson
has successfully completed
Gymboree Play and Learn 5
and is ready to work on his logical
thinking skills in Level 6!
Congrats from your Gymboree Teachers!

9 days down 21 to go of NaBloPoMo!

Boating

No, Brian & I did not take up a new hobby. Although, Brian wants to buy a boat SOOOO badly! Thank goodness he started being recruited for the new job months ago and had loads of meetings, interviews & negotiations because that took his mind off of searching for the perfect boat.

But I digress. Boating is actually Jaxon's way of saying voting. Yesterday we did our civic duty and voted. I was a bit nervous since I wouldn't be going to the polling place until after school and had to take Jax with me. I was envisioning how it was for the presidential primary election, when I had to wait in line for about 5 hours! Thankfully things went smoothly and apparently everyone voted early.

I will say that I really had no idea who to vote for. Our candidates here in NM weren't much to right home about and honestly, I'm too pretty to do politics! :) (Just kidding, well, not really, I'm just not interested in it). So I voted straight ticket and for a couple of the bonds. I didn't even know who won governor until I saw it this morning on a billboard driving to Gymboree. I really should be ashamed.

I got out of the car at 4:51 pm

Jaxon's ready to "boat"!

Once inside Jaxon did not make friends. The lady voting next to me kept giving us looks and not "oh, you're so cute" looks, but "How dare you bring a child to a polling place!!" looks. The reason, Jax isn't exactly what you would call a quiet child. "Mama, where we boating? Mama, who you boating for. Mama, where's daddeee? Mama, where we go? Mama, dis is ankylosaurus. Mama, where are we? Mama, you boating?" and on and on. I tried to my best to keep him quiet, but he isn't a very good listener either. The funniest part was when we got to the car he says, "Mama, I was quiet. So quiet. You proud of me." Yeah right!!

And out by 5:03!! Not to shabby! That even included transporting Jaxon in and out of the carseat.

I know I promised Halloween part 2, but I lied! You got "boating" instead. Halloween tomorrow, I promise!

Day 3 down! 27 more to go!

Halloween Part 1

This post was originally supposed to be one, but in the middle of it I made the mistake of calling Ami. Oh how I regret this! She suckered me into doing 30 Blogs in 30 Days. So, here you have part 1 of 3 for Halloween. After these halloween posts I have no idea what I'm going to do. Ideas would be much appreciated!

Halloween turned out to be quite successful! At first I was VERY worried. I finally showed Jaxon his costume on Thursday and he disliked it very much! When he saw it for the first time his eyes got huge, his mouth made an "O" and he stepped back, "Scary Mama. I no wear dat." Hmmm... not the reaction I was going for! We tried and tried and nothing, he refused to wear it. I even thought of making him a shirt that said, "I have a costume, but refuse to wear it." Anyway, we left it lying around the house to see. He did play with it and talked about it but when you'd ask him if he'd wear it, he'd say, "No. I no wear costume." All righty then.

Anywho, we didn't get to carve our pumpkins this year. Brian has been sooo busy with his new job and I had parent teacher conferences each evening, we just didn't get to it. So instead I decided to let Jaxon make his own jack-o-lantern out of a paper plate (sometimes I feel that kindergarten prepared me well for motherhood!)

Like any good teacher I made a sample. Notice it to the left of Jaxon.

And now notice Jaxon taking off the pieces!

Ta daa!!

So proud! He even had to Skype with Lola & Abu to show them.

Tomorrow... Halloween at Gymboree!

Sucka!

That's me. A sucker! I have fallen for it..... again! Ami roped me into doing 30 posts in 30 days. I seriously need to stop hanging out with her! :) Nicole roped her in and she had to rope me in. I shouldn't be such a follower. Oh well. I'm in. So get ready for another round of NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month)!

Don't forget to check in with Ami & Nicole's blogs too during this month!

Sarah, maybe we can sucker you into doing 30 blogs in 30 days??

I DID IT!!

Why is April's picture so ugly??

Woot Woot! I did it! I blogged everyday for 30 days! WHEW. Can't believe I was able to come up with 30 posts in a row. Go me!

I think I will take a break from blogging for awhile, well, at least a week. Jaxon's 2nd birthday is one week from today, so that'll be my next blog.

Thanks for reading this month! It was fun telling stories about Jaxon every day.

Who Knew?

I am a girly girl! I love everything that comes with being a girl. I love manicures & pedicures. I love pink! I would wear dresses & skirts everyday of the year if I could. I love wearing high heels, HATE tennis shoes! I can't leave the house without make up on, even if I go to the gym I have to wear foundation & mascara. I know absolutely nothing about sports and have no desire to learn. I would die before I skipped a hair appointment. I spend way too much on getting my hair done. My favorite part of the day is the hour I spend getting ready. I love shopping, I love shoes, purses, jewlery & clothes. You get the picture!

When I was young and pictured myself as a mom, I always pictured myself with a little girl. Of course the little girl would always be dressed in the cutest outfits with matching shoes & hair accessories. She would love to play with dolls and I would take her to get a pedicure as soon as her little feet would reach the water basin. I had a ton of girl names picked out. Not one boy name. When I was pregnant from weeks 5 to 19 I had a sneaking suspicion I was having a boy. As much I dreaded it, what would I do with a boy? I fiercely held out hope that it would be a girl, I mean I had a fifty-fifty chance right?

Well, when we went in for the, much anticipated, 20 week ultrasound I couldn't stand it! The tech said, "I see a penis! You're having a boy!" My heart sank. Really? A boy? I didn't know anything about "boy things". A teeny tiny part of me was sad. You mean I couldn't paint the nursery pink or buy all of those adorable pink polka-dotted dresses at Target?

But of course, I did my motherly duty and painted the nursery blue, bought blue outfits, blue bottles, blue blue blue! All except the pacifier holder! I chose pink! The cashier even said, "Umm. Your having a boy. Why is this pink? Go exchange it real quick" "No. I will be carrying the pacifier holder. I want something pink. It will stay pink."

Of course, now and even at twenty-something weeks pregnant, I wouldn't trade my boy in for the world. Actually, now I am grateful I have a boy. We all know the attitudes girls bring and the worrying about boys I would have to do.

Jaxon is a boy through and through! He loves all sports, he makes sound effects, he can't sit still, he plays with dirt! Each day this week I have had to wrestle him to get the dirt out of his fingernails! He loves to play rough, loves to be outside & loves dinosaurs. He always had a dirty face & screams bloody murder when I try to wash it or wipe it clean.

All boy. And I LOVE IT!

This is a glimpse into what I expect my summer to look like:

Jaxon isn't much of a fan of keeping the sand in the sandbox! He prefers to throw it in the air or empty it.

Who knew I would love being the mama to a boy so much??

Half way done with NaBloPoMo!

What Do I Do?

Blogging Friends, I need some advice. Jaxon is normally a very good natured, happy, friendly little boy. He plays nicely with the kids at his babysitter's house. He says hello and talks to people in stores. He is polite to other kids on at the park, birthday parties and get togethers. The problem is at Gymboree. A few weeks ago I noticed that whenever another kid would come up to Jaxon he would give them the stink eye and yell, NO! Kids at Gymboree can't even get on the same play structure as him without getting yelled at by him. I just don't get it. Why so nice in other situations, but not so with his peers. These are the kids he is going to be in kindergarten with. I am so afraid he is going to be that kid I have in my classroom each year who is intolerant to his classmates. I know very well that Jax isn't perfect. I mean he has at least 5 tantrums a day at home. He tells me NO every other minute, but at home it's fine. I can deal with it here, it's when we are out that I want him to be a pleasant young man.

What do I do?? Please help. Is this just a stage of the famous terrible twos (which started at 18 months in our house!) Have your kids gone through this? Please leave me a comment with some helpful advice or even a reassurance that he's normal!

Thanks Friends!

Here's the stink eye... followed by NO!

National Blog Posting Month

I have joined National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo)! This means a blog a day for 30 days (thank goodness April only has 30 days)! I have my friend Ami to thank for this. On Wednesday, she posted a blog about her busy busy triplets and mentioned that she might do NaBloPoMo. Well, I had to open my big mouth and comment, "If you do it, I may be persuaded to do it too". Well, at 8:30 pm this evening Ami calls me and the first words out of her mouth are, "Are we doing a blog a month?" Uh oh. She took my blog comment seriously.

Well... here goes nothing!
This is my first offical blog for NaBloPoMo. Check daily for an update, BIG or small, from the Pearson family!
This should be fun. :)
