Jaxon-isms

It seems as if Jaxon has been on a roll lately. He is seriously too funny! As much as 3 has been difficult, I am so going to miss this age. I love his imagination and his curiosity. I love how he is uninhibited and will ask and say what is on his mind.

I absolutely love to spend time with him and just chit chat. Yes, he drives me batty with all of his questions, but it is fascinating.
Here are a few of my favorites from this past month...

J - "Is barbeque sauce a liquid? Is beart a liquid?" M- "You mean beard? No a beard is not a liquid." J- "No Mom! Beart like what Daddy drinks!"

*****

"Does Barrack Obama have a nickname?"

*****

"I don't want another baby. Reesey is enough."

*****

*****

Looking at the Quaker Oats guy, "What's his name? Harry Johnson?"

*****

" I love Reesey so much. She is my favorite girl in the whole world!"

*****

While practicing cutting and showing Jaxon the correct way to hold a pair of scissors, "You aren't a teacher. Well, you're not my teacher. You're not a preschool teacher."

*****

*****

"Mama, is God nice? Will he let me come visit you when I go to Heaven? I'll miss you so much when I go to Heaven, I'll want to visit you."

*****

"Mama, Can I watch the Poodle and the Tramp?" (The Lady and the Tramp)

*****

"Mama, can we go to Pets 'R Us to see the otters?"  (Can we go to PetSmart to see the ferrets?"

*****

*****
"When I'm 5 I'll be in kindergarten. I want to be in your class. I won't call you Mommy. I'll call you Mrs. Pearson. I'll listen to what you say and I'll sit criss cross. I'll raise my hand to say something. If I have a problem I'll solve it without you."

*****

My favorite is when he wants to do something like, not take a nap, he says, "Mama, don't think about it. I'll think for you. mmmmm. I think I'll skip nap."

Jaxon's attempt at his name. Not too shabby.
The N is above the O and looks Z-ish.

3 months

Our little Peanut Butter Cup is 3 months old! So hard to believe it's been 3 months. It seems like a lifetime, but such a short time all at once. She has definitely changed our lives for the better.
I am happy to report that her tummy issues have improved tremendously! She is on a very specialized formula for babies with allergies to cow's milk. Her constipation and daytime fussiness improved almost immediately after switching to the new formula. It is amazing! She now tends to get fussy just in the evening. Usually 8:00 pm is the witching hour. Dr. Goldberg tells us that she is colicky which will hopefully go away when she's 3 months... that's today people! I'm hoping it's according to her actual age and not her adjusted age.
(She is now 3 months and 1 week and her colic has not improved)

Weight - 10 lbs 6 oz!

Sleep - At night she usually sleeps from 10:00 pm - 3:30 am then she sleeps until about 7:00 am
(At 3 months and 4 days she slept through the night! She's done it 3 nights in a row now! Our new routine is bottle sometime in the 9 o'clock hour, bath, story and swaddle. She's been sleeping from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am)

Eat - Reese is up to 5 oz still every 3 hours, but at least once a day she'll go 4 hours in between. She is on Enfamil's Nutramigen formula. Can we say EXPENSIVE.

Temperment - She's a feisty little thing. She is very sweet, but wants what she wants and she wants it NOW!

Likes/Dislikes - Reese loves a bath and her brother. She does like to be naked. She LOVES to be held! She would be the happiest baby if I held her all.day.long.
She dislikes being hungry and alone.

Nicknames - Peesey (Me), Peanut (Brian), Reesey (everyone)

Clothes size - In between Newborn and 0-3 months. Straight 3 months are still too big.

Language - She grunts and occasionally coos. Melts my heart.

Physical - Reese's head control is getting better. She can hold her head up for quite a bit, but it does get heavy for her :) She rolls over occasionally when on her belly.
She is smiling more and more each day. She smiles the most with Jaxon and my mom.

First time in the Bumbo

She's not quite sure about this thing

"Uh, Daddy, can you help me out over here?"

"Yup, my head is too heavy."

The prettiest smile!

Look at the cheeks!

There's the smile again.

Vail Pride Day 2012

Vail Pride Day is probably the biggest event in our school district. It is an annual event where each school,  grade level, teacher, club, etc gets to show off what they do. Teachers display student work, groups perform, PTAs sell food and we show off why we are the number one school district in the state. VPD is a BIG deal!
As a teacher I would always set up and take down. That's it. I never actually enjoyed the events available. We worked too hard leading up to it to actually want to stay, but this year, I'm a parent. My big boy attends preschool in Vail and they performed. Oh my. We were excited! Jaxon told us about Vail Pride Day and that he would be singing at the Pima County Fairgrounds. He even drew me a map so I wouldn't get lost! He knows is mother all too well. We talked about it for weeks, he practiced his songs for us and could hardly wait.
Saturday rolled around and we were stoked. Our boy was going to do his first performance. I made sure we were there early, a first in my life. I had video camera and regular camera in hand. Boy, was it ever cute! I mean how could a bunch of 3, 4 & 5 year olds NOT be cute?? I have video, but stupid blogger won't upload them! GRRR! All it'll do is one. The one where he walks on stage. Sigh.
Surprisingly, well, maybe not, Jaxon was one of the more reserved performers. He sang the songs and did the movements, but we couldn't really hear him. He must have had stage fright.

Jaxon & Hunter. Best Friends.

Waiting to go on stage

Getting acquainted with the stage

The little girl in the tutu was a riot! She is definitely going to be a star!

Notice who is in front of him?

Ms. Courtney

Who is Jaxon not taking his eyes off of? Ms. Courtney. His love.

Snow? In Tucson?

Since we have moved back to Tucson Jaxon will often say to me, "Mama, when it snows we'll have a snowball fight." or "Mama, when it snows we'll build a big snowman." or "Mama, when it snows I'll wear my mittens."  Well, each time I have to say, "Jaxon, it doesn't snow in Tucson."

What happens on Valentine's Day? If flippin' snows! And guess who looks like a big fat liar?
I picked Jaxon up from school on Tuesday and the first thing he says to me (after he refuses to leave because "home is no fun and school is!") is "It snowed! We went outside to feel it."

In town the snow did not stick at all, but out in the middle of nowhere, where we live, it did. As we are driving home the cars that are headed into town were COVERED with snow! It was crazy! They had a good inch of it. I'm pointing it out to Jaxon and he says, "I thought you said it doesn't snow in Tucson?" Yeah. It doesn't NORMALLY. Uh. Sometimes having a kid who has the memory of an elephant is to my disadvantage (well, a lot of the time).

Honestly, his smile & brown eyes melt my heart. He is such a handsome boy.

A few hours after and we STILL have snow!

Now, everyday he asks, "Is it going to snow today?" "No Jaxon, it isn't. That day was a special day, it probably won't happen again for awhile." "Well, it snowed the other day at school, I bet it'll snow again." Ugh. Ok. Whatever. You're right. I'm wrong.

Rolling Over

At the end of January (the 28th to be exact) Jaxon & I set out to clean his closet, I put Reesey in Jaxon's room to do a little tummy time while we put things back in order. After a few minutes I went to check on her and she was on her back! Of course I had to stop and think how I set her down, but I was positive it was on her stomach. So, I moved her to where I could see her from the closet and put her back on her stomach. A few minutes later Jaxon says, "Look Mom, Reesey is moving!" Sure enough, The Peesey was rolling over! I was shocked! I had to see if this was a fluke so I grabbed my video camera to see if she'd do it again. And she did! I got it on video, but for some reason each time I try to upload it I get an error message :( It may be a good thing since she was none too happy to be on her belly and was screaming!

Here's the next best thing on a different day...

A Family Portrait

Who needs a picture taken of their family when you have a 3 year old's version?
Jax drew us this weekend. I love it!
I love that he is learning to draw people. He even drew Lucy with 4 legs!
I'd love to frame his work of art, but he drew it on his magna doodle.

"That's you, Mama."

"This is me."
"This is Daddy, he's bigger than you."

"That's Reesey."

So proud

Jaxon says I look like a mushroom. Brian says I look like something inappropriate. You be the judge...
