Lola Visits!

My mom came to visit this past weekend. She booked her flight back in August, but I decided not to tell Jaxon that she was coming. Can you imagine what those days would have been like? "Is Yoya here?" "When's Yoya's coming?" "Yoya to my house?" I mean, it would have been endless. As the days got closer, my mom and I began to worry a bit. You see, for some reason Jaxon wasn't too enthused with Lola. He was all about Abu and Abu wasn't coming.

One day, I was on the phone with her and put Jaxon on. This is how the conversation went:
Lola: "Hi Jaxon."
Jaxon: "Hi Yoya."
L: How are you?"
J: "I not coming to your house. Mama says no."
L: "Well, how about if Lola comes to your house? Would you like that?"
J: "Uhhh. Nah."
L: "You don't want to see Lola?"
J: "No. I no see Yoya. I see Abu."

Things didn't get much better. My mom was worried he was going to send her away when he saw her at the airport. Thankfully he was SUPER happy to see her! They had a great visit. He was quite smitten with her and would not leave her side.
Here's a quick video of Jaxon when we finally pull up to the curb.

One of the best part of her visit was each morning when I went into his room, the first thing he would say was, "Where's Rora? I go wake her up." (For some reason, Jax is now calling my mom by her first name, Aurora, which comes out as "Rora".) He would make a beeline to her room, walk in with the BIGGEST, SWEETEST smile on his face and say, "Hi Rora. Mornin'. I here."

Of course, one of Jaxon's favorite parts of her visit was the gifts she brought. It was a little bit like Christmas in September for him.

Fire Trucks that make siren noises!

A Delta plane from Abu and some Matchbox cars, which came in a set of 5, but who knows where the other 3 went!

Crayola Wonder Paint

Even I got a little something!

Jaxon & Lola did LOTS and LOTS of playing. He really thinks that she is his playmate... "Rora pay bocks wif me? Rora pay puzzles wif me? Rora pay cars wif me? Rora read me story. Rora pay football wif me?" and on and on it went.

The small pictures were from my mom's camera & I have no idea why they are small!

Lola taught him how to make a fish face.

Each night I would ask Jaxon who he wanted to read his bedtime story, Me or Lola. And each night he said, "Rora." One night he even went as far as saying, "Go be sad Mama. Go. Rora read to me." Seriously! What am I raising here??

He had to put his sunglasses on his head because Lola had them on hers!

The next video is of Jaxon waking up after I have taken Lola to the airport. I was really worried it was going to be disastrous since Mom told him she would be there when he woke up from his nap (we didn't think he'd sleep so long & Brian came home in time to stay with him). Thankfully he took it fairly well.

Mom, we are so glad you came! We had a great time with you here. Jaxon Can't wait for your next visit!

The Singing Coyote

I got a Facebook Message from my friend Sarah pressuring me to update my blog. So this is the best I can do right now.
In the last few weeks Jaxon has become quite the boy. He is becoming more active and louder as the days go on. He NEVER stops! There is alwasy some sound coming out of his mouth. It can be quite dizzing.
My mom came to visit this weekend and we were out and about on Saturday. At one point, Jaxon puts Blue Puppy on his head like a hat and she wanted to take a picture with her phone. Well, instead of taking a still picture she took a video and we had no idea until she sent it my dad and he texts back, "I saw a lot of the car and a little of Jaxon." We had no idea what he was talking about since we thought my mom had sent a picture. We did a little investigating and found the following video. Even though my mom wanted a picture of Jaxon with puppy on his head we got the Singing Coyote instead (You'll know what I mean when you watch the video).

We thought it is hilarious because it completely captures Jaxon at this moment in time.

Jaxon Date

Jaxon & I went on a date on Monday. Oh who am I kidding? We go on dates ALL the time! At least 3-4 times a week we head out the door to do something fun. One of the first things Jaxon asks me in the morning is "Mama, where we goin' day?" On Monday Jaxon woke up and said, "I wanna go Sea World." Ironically, I had already planned to taking him to the aquarium, yes I know, not nearly as exciting as Sea World, but the closest I could get in ABQ.
Before we headed out we had to get ready of course. Jaxon's new thing (which I LOVE) is that he likes to take a bath in my big bathtub. It's perfect because while I shower and get ready he's entertained and supervised. Plus he's getting clean. It's genius really.
I absolutely love to watch Jaxon play when he doesn't know anybody's watching. It is one of the most precious things to watch so I try to either take pictures or get it on video. He was so engulfed in washing his animals he had no idea I grabbed the camera and started taking pictures.

I have to say, that these are my most favorite pictures of Jaxon EVER!

Off to the aquarium we went. Funnily enough, the aquarium was our focus and I did not take one.single.picture! Just outside the aquarium are the botanical gardens and they have a play area for kids which is WAY cool!

At the entrance of the Enchanted Garden Castle. We had to go back a few times to see the dragon.

With the giant watering can

Inside the giant pumpkin. Yes, those are "pumpkin guts" hanging from the ceiling.

And even better than seeing the sharks... a farm! We saw horses, cows, goats & sheep.
Posing with the cow.
The sheep didn't really want to cooperate. After naptime we painted. While I made dinner Jaxon made a pillow pit.He is ALL boy! Jumping onto the pillows is now he new favorite hobby!

After jumping into the pillow pit a few times, Puppy got hurt. Jaxon brings him to me and says, "I frow Poppy. Poppy go to doctor. He hurt." So I had to bust out the band aids for Puppy and Jaxon.

Live and Learn

Yes, you'd think I would "Live and Learn", but I haven't and I don't. Lately Jaxon has been into coloring (remember the bathtub?). He started with crayons and then discovered the markers. I left him at the kitchen table coloring peacefully and quietly last week, while I cooked dinner. After a few minutes I looked up and see this....

Fast forward to this Monday. We went to Hobby Lobby, bought a canvas & paint brushes (this idea came from Jaymee! Thanks Jaymee) and he painted. Really well. I laid down the ground rules before hand and he followed them to a tee. Only paint on the canvas, Do not paint on the table, do not paint on yourself. Only paint on THE CANVAS. I didn't even care if he mixed colors! Which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine in kindergarten.Very focused

Notice his tongue. This is EXACTLY what Brian does when he is concentrating!

So today he asked to paint again. Why not? It went so well on Monday. I should have known! I always should know better, but I just don't listen to that inner voice. Maybe my inner voice should start yelling. We went over the rules again... Only paint on the paper, DO NOT paint on the table, DO NOT paint on youself. Only paint on THE PAPER! Those rules were for not.

{Sigh}

Watch the kid in action. My favorite part is who he thinks is going to clean him up.

This from a kid who hates to be dirty! The only thing that makes me feel better about his newly found artistic abilities is that he is developing his fine motor skills and his sensory issues are getting better.
