Never Too Early to Save

Clothing disclaimer
*** Let me first explain Jaxon's outfit. These were taken in the morning. It is now chilly in the morning and Jaxon wasn't wearing footie pjs so I put on some socks to keep his feet warm. During breakfast he spilled orange juice all over his shirt and wanted a new shirt, hence the non-matching outfit. ***

I am a spender. Brian is a saver. Brian would put all of our extra money into savings if he could and I would spend every last penny if I could. That's why we are a good match. He reminds me that one day we will be retired and will still need to live. Blah blah blah. Well, he has taught Jaxon how to save.
My maternal grandmother wanted Jaxon to have a blue piggy bank when he was a baby so my mom bought one on her behalf. It sat on his dresser until just a couple of months ago. Brian taught him how to put change into is piggy bank... give him a handful of change and the kid is occupied & quiet for minutes!
The other day, I had my wallet on the counter when Jaxon found it and decided that what is mine is also his, for keeps.

Now I have two boys that try to keep me from spending! Sheesh!

Hard at Work

I think I've blogged before about Jaxon's budding artistic side. He really enjoys "drawing". He's know starting to have a vision, if you will, about his pictures. He actually sits down and tells me what he is drawing. Granted they look like scribbles, but to him it's a piece of art! What do you think his favorite thing to draw is? Dinosuars of course! He tells me, "Dees are dinosaur tracks." Or "Dis is T-rex. Sharp teef!" It's pretty cute. The other day he sat down and said, "I draw a green motorcycle for Kevin." Kevin is our neighbor. He has a green dirtbike that he lets Jaxon sit on and "fix". He was so proud of this drawing that we had to walk down to Kevin's house to present it to him.

Concentrating on his dinosaur.

Can you tell I'm running out of things to post?

At the Park

We found a new park and we ♥ it. It's about a 7 minute drive away, but so fun! There are always kids Jaxon's age and he loves that. He is not shy at all. He will walk up to a new kid and say, "Hi. Wanna play?" Or he'll show off his shirt, or his dino toys, or his climbing skills, or how fast he can run. He is becoming quite friendly & outgoing. I'm happy to see this.

Apple Doesn't Fall Far from the Tree

I've said it before & I'll say it again. Everyday Jaxon does or says something that is just like something Brian & I would do or say. In this case though, the Apple is much louder than the Tree.

I have this pet peeve. I don't know why, it just is. I get irritated when people I don't know, either well or at all, call me honey, sweetie, love, sweetheart, etc. I know people mean well and it's no big deal, but it just bugs me.

Today I was putting Jaxon into his carseat at a grocery store parking lot. When I closed his door the lady with the car next to mine was waiting to get into hers. I said, "Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were waiting." She said, "Don't worry honey, It's ok." As I'm walking back to my side of the car, I'm thinking, "GRRR don't call me honey. i'm not your honey." When I get in the car I hear Jaxon YELLING through the window to the lady, "NO CALL HER HONEY! SHE NOT HONEY! NO CALL HER HONEY!" I couldn't help but chuckle. That's my boy!

Museum of Natural History

On Saturday Brian had to have his car serviced and the mechanic is on the other side of town. So we decided that while we waited for the truck to be ready we would stay in Albuquerque and go to the NM Museaum of Natural History. It sounds like an "adult" thing to take your 2-year-old to, but they have a dinoaur exhibit. No need to say more.
We left the house a little before 9:30 am, arrived at the mechanic's at 10:15 am and were on on our way to the museum when all of a sudden the back seat was quiet. HMMM. That's odd. We look back and see

sound asleep. Now what? I figure we drive to the museum and by the time we get there he'll be awake. Not so much. Snoring blissfully still. Do we go home? Do we wake him up? The answer was a resounding no to both questions. By the time we got home he would most likely be awake or would not stay asleep much longer and we would just have to turn around again and drive 45 minutes to pick up the truck. If we woke him up he would be cranky and the museum would be a bust.

Thankfully, my Starbucks radar was on. There was a Starbucks just down the street so Brian & I decided to enjoy a warm beverage. Luckily there was a parking spot right up front, we cracked the windows and sat at a sidewalk table. We had a nice impromptu date while our son slept peacefully in the car.

Our view

We sat there for a good 45 minutes chatting about our plans to move to Tucson when the phone rang letting us know the truck was ready (thank goodness we didn't go home!).

By the time we got to the mechanic, Jaxon was awake & refreshed after an hour nap. We decided to stick with our plans and go to the museum.

His face when he saw the entrance was priceless! Wish I would have had the camera out. The sight of Triceratops & T-Rex made him giddy!

This is when I regretted not having the Flip Cam. He was over the moon when he saw the T-Rex bones. "Whoa! Wook at dat T-Rex! Wook at his sharp teef! WOW! Wook Mama! T-Rex!" He could be heard through out the entire museum I'm sure!

Triceratops skullThis is where I learned that T-Rex has been found in several different parts of New Mexico! Who knew? Apparently hundereds of dinosaur fossils have been found here.

The funny part was watching adults listen to Jaxon. He knew all of the dinosaurs they had on display. And to see the adults look at him like, "Really?" was funny. I'm sure one day he will run this exhibit. Heck, he probably already can!

Can you tell how excited he is?

Waiting for the eggs to hatch. (there was a sign that said you could touch the dino eggs. Maybe not climb in the nest...)

Seriously Lucy?!?!

The other day the fingerprints on my stainless steel fridge FINALLY got to me! Normally I'm not particular about these types of things because I know that the minute I walk away from said task it is going to get dirty anyway. But I couldn't take the fridge fingerprints any longer. I spent A LOT of time cleaning it during naptime and felt super proud! It looked so good! I was even using a clean paper towel to open it to minimize smudges. Well, a few hours later I see this...

REALLY?!?!

Gotta make sure to get the bottom too!
GRRR! I swear this dog is on borrowed time!

WHAT! I didn't do anything!

15 days to go! I guess I'd rather blog than clean the fridge doors!
