Lucy, Lucy, Lucy

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you are well aware that our sweet little long-haired weiner is blind. One day over a year ago, she went blind. Very sad. It's been sort of a benefit because she is no longer obsessed with lights like she used to be. It's not so much a benefit when she STILL does naughty things and gets lost in the house. Or because she has gained so much weight she gets tired walking across the house and just lies down more than half way to her destination.

This was the case the other night. Brian & I were ready to head to bed so we start whistling, calling Lucy and clapping. Standard ways to call the blind mouse. She gets going in the direction of our bedroom.

Then just stops.

And lies down.

Literally, too tired to go on.

Do other dogs do this? Or is it just over-weight, blind dachshunds?

BTW... I think I may be swaying one way to the sex of the new baby! Just FOUR days until we find out! CAN.NOT.WAIT!

The Boy ♥s His Dog

Months and months ago Jaxon came to AZ to spend time with my parents. While here, my mom sang a Spanish lullaby to Jaxon. I had no idea what the words were, but when we got home, he wanted me to sing the song to him. All he said was, "Sing A Dormir." (which means "to sleep"). So what was I to do? I made up a song, in Spanish, with the words A Dormir in them. We have sang it each day and night since then. Jaxon will even sing it to me or to himself.

Today, he was lying with Lucy on the floor and he began singing A Dormir to her! So stinkin' cute! After he sang it twice he says, "Mama, get the video camera and tape me singing to my dog." Well, it was just too cute not to do what he said.

Lucy was very cooperative the first two times, but by the third I think she wanted to be saved from the kid "petting" & singing to her!

For my non-Spanish speaking readers....

Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep my baby.

Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep my doggie.

Go to sleep doggie. Let's go to sleep today.

Go to sleep, go to sleep. I love you very much.

Let's go to sleep today. Go to sleep I love you very much. We're going to sleep!

Seriously Lucy?!?!

The other day the fingerprints on my stainless steel fridge FINALLY got to me! Normally I'm not particular about these types of things because I know that the minute I walk away from said task it is going to get dirty anyway. But I couldn't take the fridge fingerprints any longer. I spent A LOT of time cleaning it during naptime and felt super proud! It looked so good! I was even using a clean paper towel to open it to minimize smudges. Well, a few hours later I see this...

REALLY?!?!

Gotta make sure to get the bottom too!
GRRR! I swear this dog is on borrowed time!

WHAT! I didn't do anything!

15 days to go! I guess I'd rather blog than clean the fridge doors!

Bad Parenting Skill #15

I have to do a very quick post tonight. The kindergartners are performing their Three Piggie Opera in an hour. I know I will be too tired to blog after the performance.
Bad Parenting Skill #15: Letting your child swing a golf club inside.
I know, this is a bad idea. I mean all kinds of things can happen- broken TVs, holes in wall, blah blah blah. Oh well! No one has gotten hurt yet.
This video is of Jax practicing his golf swing. After watching the video, I notice that Lucy kinda steals the show! She is such a little theif and persistent little dog that it became kinda comical after I watched it a few times.

A Boy & His Dog

Jaxon and Lucy absolutely love each other! They are definitely best friends. One of the first things Jaxon says in the morning is "Ucy!" and is extremely excited to see her jumping up on his crib. When we are pulling onto our street he starts yelling, "Ucy! Ome!" (Lucy! Home!) He looks forward to feeding her dinner and giving her treats through out the day. Lucy has loved Jaxon since day one.
I couldn't resist posting this. It is such a sweet picture for their first meeting.
She is never too far from him and if he so much as wimpers she is right there to make sure he is okay. These days she's next to him because he always has food!
It simply warms my heart to see them playing.
Here are a few pictures from last Saturday morning.

Yes, Jaxon is wearing Christmas jammies in February! Please don't judge.

Puppy Kisses

Oh, so tired!

Playing tug of war

After playing tug of war, Jaxon got Lucy's leash from the closet and Brian hooked Lucy up and told Jax to go for a walk.

I love Lucy's face! Jaxon was walking backwards keeping a close eye on Lucy.

Jax bumping into his tricycle. Walking backwards is not a good idea when there are obstacles in your way!

He was set to down the street!

Waiting for Daddy to get jackets so they can walk down the street. Yup, we let Jax out of the house in Christmas jammies in February! I am that mom!
