Conversations with Jaxon

The other night, Jaxon & I went to a small party with my parents. On the way home Jaxon is talking non-stop, nothing new really. All of a sudden he comes up with this gem...

J - "I was in Mary's tummy"
M - Thinking of my friend Mary, say, "No. You were in my tummy."
J- "No. I was in Mary's tummy. In heaven."
M - "Whaat??"
J - "Yeah. I was in Mary's tummy. You know while I was waiting to be born. While God was trying to decide who my parents would be. I was in Mary's tummy."
Abu - "Wow. Mary must have a big tummy if all babies are there waiting to be born."
J - "No. It was just me. It was a big tummy. As big as Mama's when Reese was in it."

*****

On the way from school to get Reese he gives me another whopper.

J - "I wish we could have another baby."
M - "Really? You want to have another baby?"
J - "Yeah. I do."
M - "What kind of baby do you want?" I'm thinking boy or girl baby.
J - "A white skinned baby."
M - "Oh. Ok. How about a girl or boy baby?"
J - "A boy."
M - "What will you name him?"
J - "I don't know. I'll decide when he comes out."

*****

M - "Jax, I love you so much."
J - "Do you love me more than my sister."
M - "I love you just the same."
J - "You should love me more. I don't climb or do naughty things."

*****

I've decided it's time we start going back to church. We were consistent for awhile, but stopped going sometime before Reese was born. The night before, I went through the whole, "There's no talking during church. We can only take 3 small toys and a coloring book. You have to wear something nice." Etc. Etc.

During mass he had a slew of questions. "Why do they sing so much? Why do we have to stand for so long? What is Baptism? Why is church so long? Why do we have to hold hands? Where is God?" My favorites...

During the opening prayer he says, "Mama. I saw God." Then a few minutes later, "Mama? Why isn't the waitress talking?" Waitress? Huh???

And during the homily, "Blah, blah, blah."
Super. Now I remember why we stopped going to church.

*****

Reese's new thing is to stick out her tongue. She sometimes sticks out her tongue and tries to "kiss" you. She went in for one of these kisses with Jaxon and Jaxon stuck his tongue right out and let her "kiss" him. Jaxon responds with, "Look Mama! Reese & I are lick kissing!"

Conversations with Jaxon

It's been quite awhile so I present another 'Jaxon-ism' post!

While on our way to school on September 11, we heard a tribute song for the victims. Jaxon was immediately aware that something 'not good' happened and started with the questions. Not wanting to lie to him or cover anything up, I told him as much of the facts as I could in kid-friendly language.
 He was STILL talking about it when I picked him up that afternoon and that evening after dinner. He says to me, "I don't think that really happened. I think you're just pretending." I should have just let it go and said, "yes, you're right." But I didn't think that was right. So, I Googled pictures of 9/11. Yeah. Maybe not the smartest thing, but Jaxon is fairly mature and handles facts well.
As we are looking at the pictures and I'm giving him facts about that tragic day he says, "I don't think the bad guy was really bad. I think he was a good guy who was eating a snack and let go of the plane's steering wheel and crashed into the building by accident."
There you have it. Such an innocent mind.

******

My dad's birthday was last month so we baked him brownies and sang happy birthday. After he blew out the candles Jaxon asks him, "Did you wish for love, Abu?"

*******

Jaxon like to play Starbucks when he's in the tub. Last night he asked me if I wanted a 'peppercino'  or a FRAPPacino.

********

Jaxon has really taken to drawing pictures and writing stories. He insists on hanging everything up. This is what our fridge looks like all of the time.

A few of my favorites:

Jaxon's fish 'Rocky' died a couple months ago. He drew a picture of him and told Ms. Courtney what happened.
"He fell on the ground out of his cage. Last night he died. We saw him floating on top. I didn't see him, I was taking a bath. My dad didn't show me."
That pretty much sums it up.
Rocky's bowl was on Jaxon's dresser. Jaxon climbed up and the entire dresser fell over taking Rocky with it. The next day, Rocky was dead.

And this one. The preschool ordered an Ocean Animal toy set of course Jaxon was all over it. Well, he was all over me to order him the set. He also was all over bringing the box home. Yeah. That wasn't happening. That last thing I need is another random box floating around. So, when I said no. He thought and thought of how to bring it home and he came up with this. Cutting the picture out, gluing it to a piece of paper and calling it an art project. Gotta hand it to him. He's pretty clever!

One day at school he must have been feeling especially punchy because he 'wrote' me a letter. Sigh. Wait till you read it. It's hilarious! Let me give you background. I usually see Jaxon at recess and I am almost always summoned to him each time. On this particular day we missed each other. He also got a boo boo and the only band aid Ms. Courtney had was a big one. Of course that wasn't good enough.
So here goes...

Mommy,
I want to wear a band aid that isn't big. I want to bring a blanket to school. I have to wear a big bandaid. I don't want to. I can take it off when we go inside. I want to take a nap here.I want you to come out. I checked today and you weren't out. I wanted to tell you something. I want to go home. My band aid is scratchy. I want to go play at home. I want my forest animals that I ordered. They are going to take seven days. I want to be like my normal self without a bandaid. I want to give you this note. Come outside.
Jaxon.

One last thing. Jaxon helped Brian cut the grass one weekend. With scissors.

Jaxon - You Make Me Proud!

We have survived the first of school! I am happy to say that I have a wonderful group of kindergartners this year, no cursing, spitting, kicking, running away (remember The Mosquito?). Whew! It is a welcome relief from some of the kiddos I have had in the past.

Jaxon had an absolute BLAST in preschool! I can't say enough how much he loves it. He has even made a "best friend". A best friend whom he did not the name of the first day and who for 2 days had his name wrong. I figured out his name was Shane instead of Chase on Friday when I heard Ms. Courtney call him. Oh well, who needs to know their best friend's name anyway. It's overrated really.

Jaxon and his best friend Shane, aka Chase. Yes, Shane is peddling and Jax is riding.

There were quite a few moments this week when my heart was just full of pride for my little guy.

On Tuesday, he had a really tough time going to school and then seeing me on the playground late in the morning. Tuesday night we sat down to talk about seeing Mama at school. As we are talking he says, "Mama, let's make a sign. When I see you, you do the sign and I'll be happy and won't cry. "

OMG! Are you serious?? Did this come out of a three-year-olds mouth? I think I shed a tear or two over that one. So he came up with making a circle in the air.

On Wednesday I saw him from far away and did the sign. when I picked him up he said, "I didn't cry when I sawed you because you did da sign and dat made me happy."

Honestly, can the kid BE any sweeter?

On Wednesday, he also found a shark book in his classroom and had to show me. He sat down and "read" me the book. No kidding. The kid pointed and told me the name of each shark in the book... Nurse Shark, Blue Shark, Great White, Bull Shark, Tiger Shark, Hammerhead Shark, Goblin Shark, Thrasher Shark, Saw Shark. and he had them all right.

Thursday he was excited to go back to school to read the book. Thursday afternoon his Ms. Debbie told him he cold borrow the book overnight! Wow! He did not let the book out of his sight for a minute. It even sat on the edge of the bathtub during bath time.

*************

The same day he was allowed to borrow the book, he's walking out and says "Thank you Ms. Debbie for letting me borrow the book. I'll bring it back tomorrow." Ms. Debbie says goodbye and turns to the director and says, "I wish we had a class full of Jaxon's. wouldn't that be nice?"

Again... tear.

Then I thought, Really? this Jaxon? Cause I don't think you know him really.

On Friday, as we are driving to school in the morning he says to me, "Mom. I'm so happy we drive to school together. It make me happy. I love you."

Where did this sweet kid come from???

*************

Saturday morning, he comes into our room and asks to get under the covers with me. "Can we cuddle Mom? I missed you last night."

LOVE HIM!

On a separate note, I will do my VERY BEST not to complain about having to have shots weekly. I overhead two ladies at the grocery store this afternoon and one mom told the other lady, "He's been in the NICU a month now and I have only been able to hold him once!" I wanted to cry right their in the cheese aisle (these darn pregnancy hormones!) The shots will definitely be worth it if I am able to spare that pain for my own family.

Latest Jaxon-isms

Many times through out the week Brian & I will say to each other, "Who taught this kid to talk? and Why?" I mean the things that come out of his mouth! I absolutely LOVE it! I love listening to the things he comes up with and I LOVE having conversations with him. Over Christmas we began to notice how much better he is talking...longer sentences, reasoning, not just baby talk anymore.
Anwho, here are a few things heard recently around our house.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day before we were driving back to ABQ from Tucson, Jaxon tells my parents this:
"Abu, Rora, you cry when I weave. You be sad. You miss me."
"Will you cry too?"
"No, I no cry. I go to my home. You cry. You miss me."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jaxon looks right at Brian & me and says, "I growed up." {sigh tear}
I took out the vacuum from the closet and with the most concerned, serious expression,
"No vacuum me up. Dat would hurt."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me: "Are you going to have girlfriends?"
Jax: "Yes"
M: "Do you have girlfriends now?"
J: "No, I too wittle. When I bigger I have girlfriend. When I 5."
M: "You have to be nice to your girlfriend."
J: "Yeah, when I 5 I have wots of girlfriends and I share my toys. I have 3 girlfriends."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were at a friends house on Sunday and it the middle of the living room, Jaxon is clearly having a "movement".
Our friend Jimmy asks him, "Jax, are you pooping?"
Jax: "Yeah, wanna smell it?"
WOW!

Interesting

I just want to share a few of Jaxon's conversations this past week. Mostly, I want to be able to read back on these years from now. I know I will forget half of the crazy stuff he says!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have mentioned before how great my thyroidectomy scar looks. Or doesn't look. If you were to look at me you really wouldn't notice the scar. I even have a hard time seeing it when I'm looking.
Well, I find it interesting and fascinating that Jaxon notices it! SOOO many times when we are sitting together he will reach up and touch my scar. Exactly where it is! It is bizarre.
Tonight, we were playing and out of the blue he lifts up my chin, points to the scar and says,
"Mama, you have owie on your neck?"
"Not anymore Bud. It's all better now."
"No, you have owie right dare. I take you to doctor and he make you feel better."
"I already went to the doctor and he did make it better."
"I get you band-aid. A Dora one."
He was just 11 months when I had the surgery, so it isn't like he has any memory of it (maybe he does who knows?) I was just amazed and wanted to share.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jaxon has a new word he likes to say. "Jesus!" And usually not in the "I'm going to say a little prayer" sort of way, but in the "Let's say it when I drop a toy" sort of way. This I have my dear husband to thank. Just minutes after he scolded Jaxon for saying that very word he says, "Jesus! This computer is slow." There's that apple again.
Anyway, after the umpteenth time of Jaxon saying the word, I said, "Jax, you can only say Jesus when you are in church and you pray. You cannot say it at home just because, it's not nice."
"Okaaay. I onwe say Jesus at church. I will say Jesus at church. Onwe at church I say Jesus."
Fast forward to Monday afternoon, we drive by the church and he says, "Mama, dats da church? Dats where I can say Jesus. I go dare I say Jesus and pray. Let's go dare I say Jesus."
Sigh.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One final Jaxon story...
At dinner tonight he says,
"I have beer wast night because my tummy hurt so I have beer. Yup. Wast night I have beer in my dinosaur cup. It make me feel better."
"You did not have beer last night, Jaxon."
"Yes! I did! Daddy gave me some in my dinosaur cup to make me feel better."
Brian was not even home last night so I know for a fact this isn't true!
We are raising a cursing, lying alcoholic here!
This Kid!
I have never had a toddler before so I don't know if they all come up with crazy things, but Jaxon comes up with crazy ideas! The other day he drug his rocking horse into the living room from the playroom (why wouldn't he? why should toys stay in the playroom?) and was pretending to be a cowboy. Complete with cowboy hat and lasso! So cute.
That's not the crazy part. Later, I was talking to my mom on the phone and of course Jaxon had to talk to her too. Well, he takes the phone and says, "I take you for a ride."Puts the phone on the horse and takes Lola for a ride! Hilarious! Who thinks of that? Are all toddlers so creative?
The next day, he and I are sitting on the couch and he says, "Shhh. T-Rex coming." Yes, he now sees dinosaurs and says they are coming to our house. Anyway, so I play along for a bit. Then he says, "I talk to T-Rex. I tell him about my owie." "You're going to tell T-Rex about your owie?" "Yeah. Call him." "What do you mean call him?" "On da phone. Call T-Rex on da phone and I tell him about my owie." OKAAAAY. What do I do? I can't call Brian because he is on a plane. Of course!
Call Lola and Abu! I call and tell my mom that Jaxon wants to talk to T-Rex. So guess who comes to the phone as T-Rex? Abu to the rescue! He gets on the phone using his best dinosaur voice and I sooo wish I would have had my video camera. Jaxon's face was priceless! For a few seconds he actually thought he was talking to T-Rex! Then he realized it was Abu and started giggling, "ABUUU! Abu!" It was so stinkin' cute! Abu was quite the sport! I think he won Grandfather of the Year that night!
Since I'm writing about cute things Jaxon says... I put him in time out the other morning for throwing a tantrum. Usually when his 2 minutes are up, I go over to him tell him why he went to time out, make him say sorry then give him a hug. Well, that particular morning I was at my wits end with him and really didn't feel like talking to him. So, when the timer went off, I just told him he was done and could go play. He comes over to me gives me a hug and says, "Sowee Mama. You be nice to me now!" Seriously!!! I could not believe it! He almost went back to time out, but I really didn't want another 2 minutes of screaming.
This kid is incorrigible!
Jaxon Says...
If you watched the 2 videos I posted of Jaxon yesterday, you have an idea of what a character he is. He says the craziest things every day. Here are a few heard around our house this week...
Jax & I were driving the other day and it started raining.
"Mama it raining!"
"Yup it is. Do you know where rain comes from?"
"Ummm. Hmmm. Da rainforest!"
On Monday I had to be at work by 8:00 am and Jaxon was still sleeping at 7:30 so Brian said he would take him the babysitter's house whenever Jax woke up. He woke up aroun 8:30 and Brian went up to get him,
"Mama?"
"Nope. It's Daddy."
"Mama making breakfast for her boys?"
Where else would I be??
Of course he sleeps in on the day I have to work early, but on a day off he's awake at 6:00 am! I was a little cranky when he started calling for me before the sun was up so I stormed into his room and told him I was grumpy because he woke me up too early.
As I'm changing his diaper he says, "I saw-wee Mama. You my favorite boy?
"Who's a favorite boy?"
"You! You favorite gurl!"
"I'm your favorite girl?"
"Yeah! I you favorite boy."
Well, not at 6 in the morning you're not!"
(I said that with a smile, 'cause how could you not smile at him?)
I was reading the lastest Us Weekly with the Kardashian sisters on the cover and Jaxon points to Khloe and says,
"EWWW!!"
"Eww?" I point to Kim Kardashian "Is she pretty?
Considers it for a second, "Yesh!"
I point to Kourtney, "Is she pretty?"
He takes another look, "Yeah."
I point to Jennifer Aniston. "Is she pretty?"
No hesitation, "YEAH!"
Back to Khloe. "Is she pretty?"
"No! She's EWWW! She not pwetty."
This is my personal favorite...
I was brushing my teeth while Brian was still "sleeping" and Jaxon was in bed with him watching cartoons.
"I need a beer."
"It's too early for a beer, Bud."
I told you he was a character!
